Magnesium - a vital mineral
Magnesium salts, along with silicon dioxide, are among the most important minerals for all living beings, but especially for humans. Studies from all over the world show that magnesium is involved in a multitude of metabolic processes. For example, based on extensive literature studies, the American magnesium expert Morley Robbin argues that magnesium salts are involved in the formation of over 3,750 proteins and set thousands of enzyme activities in motion. Without enzymes activated with magnesium salts, there is no life. Enzymes are catalysts, i.e. driving substances for a multitude of biochemical and biophysical processes in the human body.
Magnesium deficiency is reflected in a variety of symptoms
The manifold functions of magnesium in the human body are also expressed in a variety of symptoms (signs of illness) in the case of magnesium deficiency. At a medical congress in the USA dealing with the role of minerals, the importance of magnesium as a vital mineral was emphasised as early as 1936.

Possible symptoms of magnesium deficiency:
- Increased irritability, poor concentration and memory, inner restlessness, sensitivity to noise, electrohypersensitivity, anxiety, depression, ringing in the ears (tinnitus). According to the assessment of Prof. Dr. Roland Fehlinger from the neurological clinic of the Berlin Charité, patients with magnesium deficiency complain of unspecific irritable weakness, which very often conceals depression, anxiety and panic attacks.
- Muscle cramps of the calves, thighs, feet and hands, rib muscles; trembling of the hands and legs; dizziness and difficulty swallowing.
- Cardiovascular disorders, high blood pressure, cardiac arrhythmia (heart stuttering), tachycardia (racing heart), cold feet
- Breathing disorders, shortness of breath, sudden yawning
- Symptoms of exhaustion: lack of energy, tiredness, increased need for sleep but at the same time not being able to sleep, insomnia, lack of motivation
- Pain: headaches and migraines, shoulder and neck pain, back pain, muscle pain in various parts of the body, numbness of the hands and feet.
- Disturbances in the digestive system, nervous stomach and intestinal complaints, stomach cramps, intestinal cramps, constipation and diarrhoea in alternation.
- Menstrual disorders of various kinds
- In children: ADHD = hyperactivity, attention deficit syndrome ("fidgety Philip"), growth retardation. In a Polish study, magnesium deficiency was found in 59% of children with ADHD.
- Tetany: Cramping due to hyperexcitability of the nervous muscle system.
- Accelerated ageing: the biological ageing process is accelerated when magnesium is lacking
